MYRA DUARTE-THOMPSON
has been with The Aquatones since 1997.
“Music is the language of a human being’s emotions.” That is what Myra thinks of music.
Myra started singing at the age of 5, inspired and trained by her dearest father who was also a music lover and an excellent guitarist. Myra had been in both high school and sub-parish church choirs and won several singing competitions in Manila. As an administrative degree holder from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Myra decided to search for greener pastures, traveled to Dubai in 1996 and acquired an executive position in a multinational company. It was in the same year when Myra garnered the 1st prize in the Music & Motion Championship. She later joined The Aquatones. She never really thought she could make use of her voice in the United Arab Emirates and she is still amazed she did.
Myra is very much thankful to her husband, Kent, for being so supportive to her and understanding with regard to the dedication she has to her field.
According to her, she just cannot get rid of singing from her system for it has been a part of her life since the day she was introduced to music. It has now reached the point where it has become an ingredient of her soul. At this point, Myra is taking piano lessons, and dreams of composing one day.
